free patterns crochet ski hat - these are the basics

Crochet is a great hobby to take up. Granny squares have been made into everything from large afghans to tiny doll sweaters and everything in between.

If you can make a granny square you can put them tighter to create just about anything you want. Back in the real world, where the latest and best designers are not at our fingertips, we can still purchase a variety of items that feature simple crochet. Some crocheting, such as lace, is actually much easier to follow using a chart, than reading written instructions.

When using a substitute yarn make sure the length is the same as the one suggested in the pattern. Also, you will get to meet people doing the same things you are. If you don't know what project you want to start, paging through the countless pages on websites will give you many, many options.

It is also fun to work with the different yarn colors and textures. You just never know what works of art are hiding in your fingertips!
